Septo-rhinoplasty is one of the most popular plastic surgical procedure answering to functional and aesthetic request of patients. Unfortunately, after this kind of procedure, airways obstruction results to be one of the most common cause of discomfort to the patient. We studied postoperative conditions in 50 patients with a diagnosis of septal deviation and underwent a standard septo-rhinoplasty in general anesthesia; 25 of these were treated with Kamillosan® Ocean nasal spray and other 25 were treated with physiological saline solutions nasal spray. Three weeks after surgical procedure a questionnaire has been compiled for the evaluation of patients' adherence to therapy and to report subjective symptoms related to surgery. Five weeks after surgical procedure, mucociliary clearance has been assessed performing a saccharin test. Data has been analyzed by T-Student statistical model. Our results, supported by statistical evidence (p < 0,05), suggest that the treatment with Kamillosan®Ocean nasal spray after the septo-rhinoplasty can promote a faster restoring of both normal mucociliary clearance and local sensibility.
